Hanger is a classic, waste-time at work internet game that is fun and addicting. A slightly re-vamped version of the game comes to the iPad and iPhone for only a buck. The game merits the jump with more intense level designs and an up-tempo score.
Hanger’s gameplay is as easy as ever. Left and right buttons control the movement of your limp swinger and big button determines when to release and cast your rope out anew as your avatar spider-mans through caverns, cityscapes and innocuous locales. The main goal as before is trying to keep your character intact as he or she snags gems, avoids obstacles and whizzes towards each finish line.
The upgrades to hanger are obvious. Some new easy-going techno beats add to the experience and the backdrops and level designs seem to have gotten a positive make-over with more intricate structures.
Although this isn’t a revolution in terms of what we have seen in the online version of Hanger, there is a little more charm here in this new version that comes off as if it should have been called: Hanger HD. Don’t get me wrong, the same simple graphics and famous, cheesy and easily-mangled character models that defined the game are intact, but everything around these core elements has gotten a facelift.
As one of the more popular time-killing gems of the internet age, it only makes sense that now Hanger can be an official purchase as it soars (and gruesomely smashes) into 2012.
