Line Surfer is simple game that uses doodle style graphics. Surfing is a little bit hard to emulate on any platform due to it’s complexity, but this app is still great fun. The basic premise is to jump your line surfer dude over mounds of waves and to avoid rocks as you surf. You get more points by doing more jumps and landing them correctly. There are also fishes that jump up and knock you off balance as well. There’s nothing super flashy about Line Surfer
, if you are looking for a simple no pressure time waster this is a good one.
Line Surfer Walkthrough / Guide
Jump your Line Surfer dude from the top of the wave as high as you can with enough speed, and then land the jump as well. The jumping part is not hard, you simply tap the screen when you near the crest of a wave (blue hill). The hard part is landing the wave at the bottom. You have to turn your device left or right to balance out your surfer before he lands. Just like regular surfing if you are pointed downward too much you “crash” or dig in. If you are pointed back too much the same thing happens. So the idea is to land as flat as possible, to coincide with the wave itself. If you have to land on an angle, try to make your board flat with that angle, and so on and so forth. There are rocks periodically throughout the course, to avoid them you need to jump over them. Sometimes a rock will appear as you are landing and there’s really not much you can do about it. There are also fishes that jump up periodically through the air. If you hit a fish it kind of knocks off your ability to level out and starts spinning you again. To level out you have to use your device once again to get your gut to stop spinning.
Graphics: Good. Not amazing, because it’s doodle style graphics, but they are extremely smooth due to the simple premise of the game, which is nice.
Sound/Music: OK. Nothing really jumps out at you here.
Pros: Simple fun.
Cons: You might already have to be interested in surfing for this one to keep your attention. I could be wrong, I have a friend who never surfed a day in his life who loves it.
Addiction level: Medium. It depends on if you like the more simple type of game where you are just flying around. If so, this one is nice.
