Alchemy

It’s always the simplest ideas that make for the most addictive apps, and the idea behind Alchemy couldn’t get much simpler: combine 2 separate elements to make a new one. You start off with the four basic alchemical elements (Earth, Air, Fire and Water) and combine them to make hundreds of new things. Drag Earth and drop it on Fire and presto, you get Lava. Drag Water and drop it on Air, you get Steam.

The more things you create, the more abstract it gets, but there’s an underlying logic to the whole thing. Mix together Earth and Earth and what do you get? Why, Pressure, of course! Put Pressure on your Lava, and you end up with a Volcano. And on it goes, further and further down the rabbit hole.

As the obsession to make all 380 elements takes hold, you’ll find yourself trying to make just about everything from Australia to a Skyscraper to Batman. Finding the combination and making a complex element is rewarding enough to keep you experimenting into the next one, and pretty soon, you’ve dropped hours on this free app. So what are you waiting for?
