Oooh the Shady Puzzles app is good fun! Fans of Sudoku will really like this game.
Shady Puzzles Walkthrough
Each puzzle has numbers going across the top and numbers going down the side. The object is to shade in the boxes to match the number pattern. For example, say the numbers across the top are 1 – 2 – 2 and down the side they’re the same. 1 – 2 – 2. In the first row, you can only shade 1 box, and same for the first column. In the second and third columns and second and third rows, you can shade 2 boxes. The more difficult puzzles have numbers separated by commas in a column or a row. That means you have to skip a box when there is a comma. So if the row or column had a 1,2 in it, you would shade one box, skip a box, then shade in two boxes in a row. Numbers without commas need boxes shaded all in a row.
There are timed rounds, and there are also exact match rounds. In the timed rounds you have to complete the puzzle before the time is up. In the exact match rounds you have to find the solutions on the first try. In my opinion that’s pretty impossible without a bunch of do-overs.
UPDATE ON TIMED ROUNDS: I recently learned that if you select “guess” at the bottom, you can shade all of the spots you want without penalty. The only one you can’t change is the first shaded box. Hit the first box you selected to apply, discard or cancel. Hit guess again, to start a second layer of guesses. Timed rounds are actually achievable!
This is a great game. Mom, if you’re reading this, you’d enjoy this one on your next plane ride. xo
