Pudding Panic is a very interesting timing based strategy game with a dark carnival flair. Pudding Panic takes place on train tracks where our pudding guy is sitting on a cart trying to make it to the other side of the track. He encounters witches and skeletons along the way which are pretty funny and interact with you as you go. If you get hit by them your pudding jiggles, gets scared and goes the other way. You are supposed to avoid or destroy the obstacles in your path until you can get to the other side. You do this by several means, the first is to change the track as you go. There are several pieces of train track on the right hand side of the screen that you can grab and place at certain junctions, this briefly pauses the game for you to place them, then you proceed as planned along the track. There are also coins and other things you can grab along the way to help defend yourself. You can use coins or your party blowout whistle to destroy bad guys. Ya you heard it right, your character blows one of those whistles you got at a kids birthday party to kick a bad guy off the track, which is extremely funny. Pudding Panic was actually pretty fun as I was playing it. I would say this is an OK game for kid’s as well, but before you give it to them make sure that you are OK with the “dark” side of it. The game involves witches and skeletons, and although it doesn’t have violence or anything in it and tends to be more cute in nature than anything else; it still feels very dark to me. All in all Pudding Panic is a great puzzle game, it kept me quite entertained, especially as the levels got harder.
Pudding Panic Walkthrough / Guide
Learning to place the track and watch for timing is important. Your pudding can only be scared so many times before he “dies” or deflates. It is important to collect coins and other goodies along the way so when you come across a witch or skeleton you can simply knock them off the track. It is also important to learn to place your railroad pieces efficiently. If you time it right you can avoid a witch all together without even knocking her away. In case they are close behind you, the coins can also be used to speed yourself up instead of knocking someone off.
Graphics: Good. The graphics here are actually better than I expected, everything is in full 3D and the game runs very smoothly.
Sound/Music: Good. The game offers quite a bit of interesting sound effects and music.
Pros: Fun puzzle game. Somewhat kid friendly.
Cons: A little dark. The game is sort of a carnival ride that your pudding rides.
