The classic family card game UNO is now available on the iPhone, iPad, Android and Kindle Fire! Who can forget the game with the red, green, blue, and yellow cards? Skip, reverse, draw two and draw four? Well it’s just as much fun as ever, except now you can play it on the go from your favorite device.
In Uno, everyone receives 7 cards, and one card is displayed face up in a discard pile next to the draw deck. When it is your turn, either match the card number or color on the discard pile. If you don’t have a matching card, you can use a wild card if you have it or you must draw a card. In addition to wild cards, there is a reverse card, where the action reverses when this card is played, and the skip card skips the next player. In the traditional card game, you had to say “Uno” before you played your second to last card. If you forgot to say “Uno” and you were caught, then you would have to draw 2 more cards. In the app, the single player mode has a button to call out Uno, but there isn’t one in Pass and Play mode. Growing up, my family would always say “Oh No” after someone said “Uno.” I know it’s corny.
The first player to get rid of all of his or her cards wins.
Choose from single player or multiplayer. In single player Tournament mode you play against the computer while completing challenges and earning reward tables. Challenges can be as simple as calling “Uno” when you have one card left or simply winning a game. You can also customize your single player experience by changing a laundry list of settings.
You can play Uno multiplayer a variety of ways. Play online by registering with Gameloft, or play local via bluetooth or pass and play. I tried the pass and play version with my husband and found it to be a silly good time. Reminder to all my iPad friends, get the HD version; it doesn’t cost any more and you’ll be happier with the screen resolution.
